Introduction
NMAT is owned and administered globally by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). It is most famous as the gateway to the flagship NMIMS Mumbai campus, though its scores are now accepted by dozens of other top-tier private universities across India.
Exam Pattern
NMAT is a computer-adaptive test. The system adjusts question difficulty based on your previous answers—getting a question right yields a harder, higher-scoring question.

- Sectional Time Limits: Yes (Strictly enforced)
- Marking Scheme: Scaled score system. Zero negative marking.

Syllabus
- Language Skills: Reading Comprehension, Para-jumbles, Grammar, Vocabulary, Synonyms/Antonyms, Prepositions, Analogy.
- Quantitative Skills: Number Systems, Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry & Mensuration, Modern Math, Data Interpretation (Tables, Bar graphs, Line graphs), Data Sufficiency.
- Logical Reasoning: Critical Reasoning (Statement-Assumption, Course of Action, Weak/Strong Arguments), Analytical Reasoning, Puzzles, Coding-Decoding, Input-Output, Blood Relations.
Eligibility Criteria
- Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Minimum Marks: Minimum 50% marks in aggregate in graduation.
- Work Experience Limit: NMIMS Mumbai specifically requires candidates to complete graduation in their first attempt (no backlogs or compartments carried over).
- Age Limit: No age limit.
Selection Process
- NMAT Sectional Cutoff: NMIMS Mumbai enforces strict sectional cutoffs alongside an overall score cutoff.
- Psychometric/Case Discussion: Shortlisted students are called for a Case Discussion (CD) or Group Discussion (GD).
- Personal Interview (PI): A final face-to-face interaction evaluating candidate fit.
- Final Merit: Built using NMAT scaled score, CD/PI performance, academic history, and relevant work experience.

- Select your exam window (you can choose your test date, time, and physical exam center location).
- Pay the NMAT registration fee (approx. ₹2,800 + taxes).
- Mandatory Step: You must navigate separately to the NMIMS university website to fill out their internal admission form before their specific deadline.
