WHAT is CUET?
Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) is a standardised exam for admission into various undergraduate (UG), postgraduate and research programs in Central Universities under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
Introduced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in 2022. One examination for candidates to participate in the admission processes. Platform of equal opportunities for candidates across the country.
WHY CUET (UG)?
This examination is beneficial to the students as it:
- Tests fundamental skills and concepts.
- Reduces the hassle of taking multiple entrance exams.
- Provides a level playing field for students from different boards.
- Ensures fairness for applicants by bringing all on a single platform.
WHO can appear for CUET (UG)?
Students who have qualified their 10+2 or intermediate or equivalent from any recognised board and seek admission to various Science, Commerce and Humanities undergraduate courses in top Central Universities.
WHEN is CUET (UG) Conducted?
Conducted once a year, usually in May, the exam spans multiple days.
The CUET UG exam usually takes place annually during the month of May. The National Testing Agency (NTA) schedules the test window across a span of roughly 2 to 3 weeks (typically mid-to-late May) to accommodate millions of students.
How many shifts are conducted?
The exam is conducted in 2 to 3 shifts per day, depending on the total number of applicants and subject combinations.
- The Shifts: They are usually divided into a morning shift, an afternoon shift, and sometimes an evening shift. For example, common standard timings are 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM for Shift 1 and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM for Shift 2.
- Continuous Sittings: If you have chosen multiple subjects that are scheduled on the exact same day, you will sit for them back-to-back within a single shift block or across continuous shifts.
How many shifts are allowed for you?
There is no rule limiting how many shifts you can sit for overall. Your personalized schedule is purely determined by the specific subjects you fill out in your application.
The NTA generates your final roster, meaning your chosen subjects could all be wrapped up in 1 or 2 shifts on a single day, or they could be spread out across different shifts over multiple days. You will find your final, non-changeable shift assignments printed clearly on your Official NTA Admit Card a few days before the exam.
