Introduction
The NABARD Grade A Examination is a national-level recruitment exam conducted by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to recruit Assistant Managers across various disciplines. It is one of India’s most prestigious banking and regulatory examinations, offering candidates the opportunity to build a career in rural development, agricultural finance, banking supervision, and financial inclusion. The recruitment process is designed to assess candidates’ aptitude, subject knowledge, analytical skills, and communication abilities.
Exam Pattern
The NABARD Grade A 2026 selection process consists of three stages: Phase I (Preliminary Examination), Phase II (Main Examination), and Interview.
Phase I – Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Examination is conducted in online mode and consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions. The exam includes sections on Reasoning Ability, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Computer Knowledge, Decision Making, General Awareness, Economic and Social Issues (ESI), and Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD).
The paper carries 200 marks with 200 questions to be completed within 120 minutes. A penalty of 0.25 marks is applicable for every incorrect answer.
Phase II – Main Examination
The Main Examination comprises two papers.
Paper I is a descriptive English paper that evaluates candidates’ writing and communication skills through Essay Writing, Precis Writing, Reading Comprehension, and Business/Official Letter Writing.
Paper II covers Economic and Social Issues (ESI) and Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD). The paper includes both objective and descriptive questions to assess candidates’ conceptual understanding and analytical ability.
Interview
Candidates shortlisted after the Main Examination are invited for the Interview round. The interview evaluates personality, communication skills, subject knowledge, and overall suitability for the role. The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination and Interview.
Selection Process
The NABARD Grade A Recruitment Process consists of the following stages:
- Phase I (Preliminary Examination): A qualifying stage used for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination.
- Phase II (Main Examination): The most crucial stage that determines eligibility for the Interview.
- Interview: Candidates qualifying the Main Examination are called for the final interview.
The final selection is based on the combined performance in Phase II and the Interview.
