Introduction

The LIC ADO is a performance-linked marketing and sales supervision role. ADOs do not sell policies directly. Instead, they recruit, train, and manage a team of LIC Insurance Agents to meet business targets.

Exam Pattern

The exam pattern changes depending on whether you apply from the Open Market (general public), Agents Category (existing LIC agents), or Employee Category (existing LIC staff). 

Open Market Stream:

 

  • Phase 1: Prelims (60 Mins | 100 Qs | 70 Marks)
    • Reasoning (35 Qs), Quant (35 Qs), English (30 Qs – Qualifying only).
  • Phase 2: Mains (120 Mins | 160 Qs | 160 Marks)
    • Reasoning & Numerical Ability: 50 Qs (50 Marks)
    • GK, Current Affairs & English: 50 Qs (50 Marks)
    • Insurance & Financial Marketing Awareness: 60 Qs (60 Marks) — Highest weightage section.

Agent / Employee Stream:

  • No Preliminary Exam. They take a single Main exam focusing heavily on practice-based insurance elements and advanced sales concepts (160 Marks).

Online Examination

  • Negative Marking: There is no negative marking in the LIC ADO exam.
  • Composite Time: The Main exam often gives a single aggregate timer of 120 minutes rather than strict sectional breaks. 

Selection Process

Written Phase: Prelims (for Open Market) followed by Mains.

Interview: Worth 40 marks. Focuses on your leadership qualities and sales mindset.

Medical Test & Target Agreement: Candidates must pass a physical test and accept a performance-linked probationary bond.

Syllabus

Financial & Insurance Marketing: Principles of marketing, sales funnels, product lifestyle, IRDAI agent regulations, and consumer protection laws.

Numerical Ability: Basic arithmetic, percentages, profit/loss, ratios, and averages.

Eligibility Criteria

Age: 21 to 30 years.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree. (Preference is given to candidates with a diploma in Marketing/Insurance).

Experience: Open Market needs no experience. LIC Agents require 4–5 years of active service. Employees require 3 years of regular service.
